About
Mikal Evans is a painter based in Athens whose work is shaped by a life lived across disciplines, cities, and creative forms. Working in vivid layers of color, she creates abstract landscapes, luminous seascapes, and intimate explorations of women’s interior worlds. Her paintings are rooted in intuition, emotional memory, and the transformative possibilities of color.
Evans began her creative path in New York City as an actor and musician, where she developed a sensitivity to emotion, rhythm, and gesture — qualities that continue to inform her painting practice. Photography later brought her from New York to Dakar, Senegal, sharpening her attention to light, texture, and narrative. She also co-created Magoma, an eco-conscious women’s clothing brand centered on identity, joy, and self-expression.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including in the Dakar Biennale OFF (2022) and the DWG Art Show (2023), and is held in private collections around the world. Across each chapter of her creative life, Evans has remained committed to the same belief: that color can carry emotion, and that joy — especially women’s joy — deserves space to expand beyond the edges of the canvas.
